The Datamars Livestock web app allows you to view information about all your pregnant and inseminated animals in the Pregnancy report. We recommend checking once a week for animals that:

  • require a pregnancy scan

  • are expected to calf

  • are ready to be dried off

You can also view pregnancy probability to track the success of your breeding programme and view animals which have had a pregnancy loss.

Pregnancy Report

To view a pregnancy report in the web app:

Click on Reproduction, then Pregnancy.

Viewing animals ready for pregnancy scanning

Animals that have been inseminated more than 30 days ago and have not already been identified as pregnant are ready for pregnancy scanning.

Use the quick filters at the top of the page to view animals ready scanning:

Viewing animals expected to calf

The Expected Calving date is calculated using Last AI date or Pregnancy Scan results. We use 283 days as the expected gestation length.

Use the quick filters at the top of the page to view animals Due to calf in the next 7 days or animals Overdue to calf:

Viewing expected dry off dates

The Expected Dry Off date is calculated using the Expected Calving date minus the number of dry days (default is 60 days). The number of dry days before calving can be configured.

Viewing pregnancy probability

You can view Pregnancy Probability to see which animals are likely to be pregnant. This will indicate how successful your breeding has been, even if you haven't pregnancy scanned yet.

The pregnancy probability is calculated based on number of days without a heat since last AI. There are 4 levels of pregnancy probability:

  • Low probability - Animal is 30-45 days since last AI and has not had a heat. Animal is likely pregnant, but our confidence is low, as not much time has past since last AI

  • Medium probability - Animal is 45-66 days since last AI and has not had a heat. Animal is likely pregnant. Now our confidence is medium, as more time has past since last AI without a heat.

  • High probability - Animal is more than 66 days since last AI and has not had a heat. Animal is likely pregnant and our confidence of this is high.

  • No probability and animal is less than 30 days since last AI - We need more time to determine if cow is pregnant

  • No probability and animal is more than 30 days since last AI - Animal has had a heat since last AI. Animal is likely to be empty. We recommend pregnancy scanning before deciding next step.

You can view the pregnancy probability for animals which have been inseminated. This is the number of days that an animal has had without a heat since her last insemination. To view Pregnancy Probability, use the advanced filter and select Low, Medium or High:

Viewing animals which have had a pregnancy loss

You can find out which animals had a pregnancy loss. Identifying animals which have had a pregnancy loss:

  • offers an opportunity to get the animal in-calf again, if the pregnancy loss is early and the animal is still within the breeding season OR

  • helps with decision-making when considering culling animals from the herd. This would typically be if the pregnancy loss occurs late in lactation.

To view animals which have had a Pregnancy Loss, use the advanced filter and select Watch or Likely.

  • Animals labelled Watch may have had an early pregnancy loss (a heat has been detected 45-66 days after a recorded pregnancy). You may decide to attempt another breeding or pregnancy check the animal.

  • Animals labelled Likely have probably had a late pregnancy loss (two heats have been detected 18-24 days apart, more than 66 days after a recorded pregnancy). You may decide to vet check the animal.

Tip: You can set up Notifications so you are alerted when an animal has had a pregnancy loss.
