Troubleshooting - fence monitoring LED lights

Find out what the LED lights on the Fence Monitoring gateway and nodes mean

The LED lights on the gateway and nodes change, depending on whether the gateway or node is being paired, installed, reset to default or is operating normally. Understanding what the LED lights mean can help with troubleshooting.

Gateway LEDs

During normal operation:

Left LED

Right LED

Indicates

Green flash

Red flash

  • Displays for 30 seconds during boot-up.

  • Gateway is searching for internet and nodes.

Green solid

Blue solid

  • Internet connected.

  • Nodes may be paired or not paired.

  • Nodes online or offline.

Red solid

Blue solid

  • Internet not connected

  • Nodes may be paired or not paired.

  • Nodes online or offline.

Green solid

Red solid

  • Internet connected.

  • Nodes paired

  • Nodes offline

Red solid

Red solid

  • Internet not connected

  • Nodes paired

  • Nodes offline

During pairing:

Left LED

Right LED

Indicates

Purple flash every 2 seconds

  • Displays when 'pair node' has been selected in the mobile app and the QR code has been scanned.

  • Time-out after 1 hour or if pairing is cancelled in the mobile app.

When resetting gateway to default:

Left LED

Right LED

Indicates

Green flash every 1 second

  • Displays during first 10 seconds when magnet is held against the RH side of the gateway.

  • Time-out if mag key is not held for full 10 seconds. Returns to normal operation with no change to settings.

Green flash every 1 second

Alternating blue and red flash every 1 second

  • Displays after 10 seconds when mag key is held against the RH side of the gateway.

  • Gateway has been reset to default settings.

  • Returns to normal boot-up sequence after 3 seconds.

Node LEDs

During normal operation:

Left LED

Right LED

Indicates

Off

Blue flash every 20 seconds

  • Network OK

  • Battery OK

Red flash every 20 seconds

Blue flash every 20 seconds

  • Network OK

  • Battery critical.

Off

Red flash every 20 seconds

  • No network connection

  • Battery OK

Red flash every 20 seconds

Red flash every 20 seconds

  • No network connection.

  • Battery critical.

During wake-up:

Left LED

Right LED

Indicates

Green solid

Off

  • Displays for 3 seconds when mag key is swiped on the LH side of the node to show it has woken up.

  • After 3 seconds it returns previous mode.

During pairing from factory default:

Left LED

Right LED

Indicates

Off

Purple flash every 2 seconds

  • Looking for a gateway to pair to.

  • Time-out after 5 minutes.

Off

Purple flash every 1 second

  • Gateway found, attempting to pair.

  • Time-out after 5 minutes.

Off

Red flash every 2 seconds

  • Could not pair with gateway.

  • After 20 seconds goes back to sleep.

Green flash every 2 seconds

Blue flash every 2 seconds

  • Successfully paired with gateway.

  • After 20 seconds goes back to sleep.

During installation, after pairing:

Left LED

Right LED

Indicates

Green flash every 1 second

Off

  • Displays after mag key has been tapped on the Reset symbol on the LH side.

  • Searching for network.

  • Time-out after 1 minute if network is not found.

Green flash every 2 seconds

Blue flash every 2 seconds

  • Found network.

  • If user taps mag key on the switch symbol in the RH side, node will be installed.

Green flash every 2 seconds

Red flash every 2 seconds

  • Cannot find network. Move closer to gateway or next node or get a better line of sight.

  • After 30 seconds goes back to searching for network.

Green solid

Blue solid

  • Node installed.

When resetting node to default:

Left LED

Right LED

Indicates

Green solid

Off

  • Displays during first 10 seconds when magnet is held against the RH side of the gateway.

  • Time-out if mag key is not held for full 10 seconds. Returns to normal operation with no change to settings.

Alternating green and red flash every 1 second

Alternating blue and red flash every 1 second

  • Displays after 10 seconds when mag key is held against the RH side of the gateway.

  • Node has been reset to default settings.

  • Returns to normal wake-up sequence after 3 seconds.
