You can set a default group for new animals, for animals in the milking herd and for animals which have been dried off. When default groups are set, animal group movements will then occur automatically when particular events are recorded, reducing the time it takes to keep animal groups up-to-date.
The Default Group is the group which all new animals will automatically be added to.
The Default Dry Group is the group which animals will automatically be added to when a 'Drying Off' event is recorded.
The Milking Group is the group which animals will automatically be added to when a 'Calving' event is recorded.
📝 An event may be added to an animal record manually or added automatically if you have a farm management software integration.
📝 Default groups can only be configured in the web app, not the mobile app.
📝 Default groups can only be configured by someone with admin permissions.
📝 An animal group must already exist in Datamars Livestock before it can be used as a default group. Create a new group, if required.
To configure default groups:
Click on Farm settings, then Group movements.
Click on Edit group movements configuration.
Set the Default group, Default milking group and Default dry group, as required.
Click on Save group movements configuration.
