Updated this week

This article applies to:

  • XR5000, ID5000, JR5000 weigh scale indicators

After weighing animals using your 5000 indicator, you can use Data Link PC software to transfer the weighing session to your PC, then import the session file into LIC MINDA herd management software.

There are the three steps required:

  1. Transfer data from the 5000 indicator to the PC using Data Link PC software.

  2. In Data Link PC software, change the format of the session file to match MINDA requirements and save the file to the PC.

📝 MINDA requires records to contain an animal ID, a date and a weight only. Any other data recorded in the session must be removed for the purposes of the transfer.

  3. Import the session file into MINDA.

Step 1 - Transfer data from the 5000 indicator to the PC

  1. Connect the indicator to your PC using the cable supplied:

  2. Launch Data Link on the PC:

  3. Once Data Link has connected to the indicator, the weighing session will be displayed:

Step 2 - Change the format of the file to match MINDA requirements, then save the file

📝 If you change the file format, Data Link will keep using this format until you change it back.

  1. In Data Link PC software, click Settings .

  2. In the Options dialogue, select CSV Minda Format (comma separated values) and click OK.

  3. Select the session you want to transfer, then click Get information off device.

  4. Select Save selected session files onto my computer and click Next.

  5. Select a location and click Save.

A .csv file is now saved on the PC ready for importing into MINDA.

📝 Records in the .csv file will contain only animal IDs, dates and weights. Any other information recorded in the session will be not be saved as it cannot be imported by MINDA.

Step 3 - Import the session file into MINDA

  1. Launch MINDA.

  2. 🤚 If you have problems importing the file, check MINDA's formatting guidelines - EID must have a space after the first three numbers i.e. 123 456789012345; Date must be formatted DD/MM/YYYY or DD/MM/YY using either a "/" or "."
