This article applies to:
XR5000, ID5000, JR5000 weigh scale indicators
XRS2i/XRS2, SRS2i/SRS2 EID stick readers
You can export ID information from LIC MINDA, then use Data Link PC software to transfer it to your 5000 indicator or EID stick reader. ID information can include EIDs, Birth IDs (LIDs) and Animal IDs (VIDs). Transferring ID information means that the animal records displayed on your Tru-Test device will match the records in your MINDA database.
There are three steps required:
Create a custom report in MINDA containing the ID information you want to transfer. Export this to your PC as a .csv file.
Modify the file using MS Excel. Change the headings so that the file is a suitable format for transferring to a 5000 indicator or EID stick reader.
Use Data Link PC software to transfer the file to your Tru-Test device.
Step 1 - Create a custom report in MINDA
Step 1 - Create a custom report in MINDA
Launch MINDA and on the dashboard, select Reporting:
Click on Create a custom report:
Select the group you want to create the report for, and a date range. In our example, we will choose Whole herd and 2025/2026 season. Then in the left-hand pane, select from the list of Available Attributes. Animal ID is already in the report by default, but in this example, we will add Birth ID and EID:
Once you have finished, select Save to My Reports if you want to use the report again. Give your custom report a name e.g. Datamars.
Click on Print/Export then Export as CSV.
The file will be saved in your Downloads folder.
Step 2 - Modify the .csv file using MS Excel
Step 2 - Modify the .csv file using MS Excel
Launch Excel and open the .csv file which you downloaded from MINDA.
Rename the headings:
Animal-Animal ID > VID
Animal-EID > EID
Animal-Birth ID > LID
🤚 Check the bottom of the Animal ID column for any misplaced Birth IDs and delete these. It is essential that data is in the correct column.
🤚 If there are no Animal IDs (VIDs) in the .csv file, delete this column (for example if these are young animals where no Animal IDs have been recorded). Deleting this column will ensure that ID information is not duplicated.
Save the modified .csv file and close it.
📝 The file MUST be saved and closed before it can be transferred to a device using Data Link PC software.
Step 3 - Transfer the .csv file to your Tru-Test device
Step 3 - Transfer the .csv file to your Tru-Test device
Connect the 5000 indicator or EID stick reader to your PC using the cable supplied:
Launch Data Link on the PC:
Click Put information on device
.Select Animal lifetime information and click Next.
Browse to find the .csv file you just saved and click Open.
Data Link will confirm that the file has been successfully transferred to the weigh scale indicator.
👉 Now when you scan an animal's EID or enter a VID or LID on your Tru-Test device, the animal record will match the details in MINDA.
