Loading the TSO onto the tagger

📝 Leave the female adaptor clipped onto the container tag, do not pull them apart.

  1. Take the TSO out of the box, push the metal plate on the tagger up, and slide the female adapter into the tagger (underneath the metal plate).

  2. Remove the blue cutter tip (from the tag) and load it onto the tagger pin.

  3. Optionally, you can clip the container flag onto the tagger lug.

💡 Check that the blue cutter tip is correctly aligned with the TSO by closing the tagger until the cutter tip reaches the TSO. Reload if needed.

Applying the TSO

  1. Before taking the sample, check that the cutter tip is on the tagger pin. Align the tagger on the animal's ear and press down firmly until you hear a single click.

  2. Remove the TSO from the tagger. Pull the female adaptor off the container tag, ensuring the blue male adaptor comes away with the female adaptor. You should only be left with the container tag.
Tip: You can check that the animal's tissue sample has been successfully taken by looking for the blue cutter tip in the container.

  3. Place the TSO back inside the box and write the animal's identification number against the container.

  4. Finish taking all the tissue samples and recording the animal details against the samples, then send them to your preferred laboratory.
