Marking an animal as sold or die

When animals leave your farm, you should mark them as 'sold' or 'died' in the Datamars Livestock web app

Updated today

It is important to mark animals as sold or died when they leave your farm. This will keep the database clean and up-to-date.

You can only mark animals as sold or died in the web app, not the mobile app.

To mark an animal as sold or died:

  1. Click on My Herd, then Animals.

  2. Select animal(s) to mark as sold or died.
💡You can apply filters to select particular animals (e.g. all animals in a group).

  3. Click on Mark as sold or Mark as died.
The animal will be moved from Current animals to the Sold or Died tab.

💡 After marking an animal as sold or died, you can move it back into the current herd by clicking on My Herd > Animals > Sold or Died tab, select the animals you want to reinstate, then click Move Animals Back to Current.

📝 Active Tag only

  • When an animal is marked as sold or died, the animal record will remain in the database, but the animal will no longer be monitored. The animal's active tag will automatically be unassigned.

📝 Weighing and EID only

  • When an animal is marked as sold or died, the animal record will remain in the database, but the animal will be removed from the group it was in. Any data recorded for that animal will still be in the session it was recorded in and will be represented in reports and graphs.
