For Dairy Drafters/Sort Gates set up for use with the Active Tag ID method, animals will be drafted automatically if they are on heat or have a possible health issue. The drafting configuration, set up during installation, determines which pen animals will be drafted to e.g. Heat to pen 1, Health to pen 2.
Automatic drafting for heat
The example below is for a farm with two milking sessions - morning and afternoon.
During the morning milking, animals are drafted for both heat and health. The left pen is used to draft animals which are on heat and the right pen is used for animals with a possible health issue.
During the afternoon milking, only animals with possible health issues are drafted.
After the morning milking, the Active Tag monitoring system detects an animal is on heat. The animal is added to the next draft list for heat and is drafted during her optimal insemination window. In this example, it will be the next morning's milking session.
📝 The animal on heat will NOT be drafted in the afternoon milking because that milking session is set up to draft animals with possible health issues only.
Automatic drafting for health
The example below is for the same farm.
After the morning milking, the Active Tag monitoring system detects an animal with a possible health issue. The animal is added to the next draft list for health. In this example, it will be the afternoon milking session.
📝 If an animal has been automatically added to a draft list for heat or health but she is NOT drafted during the milking session, she will automatically be added to the next draft list, provided that she is still on heat or has a health issue.
