Settings on the S2 and S3 indicator can be changed with the Data Link app or Data Link for PC. It is recommended that you set up the indicator for your weighing environment before you begin weighing. The Data Link app makes this a simple process which can be done right in the yards.
Data Link app
Open the Data Link app on your Apple iPhone or Android smartphone.
Choose the S2 or S3 indicator from the list devices, then connect to it.
Select the Settings icon to begin setting up your indicator.
Data Link for PC
Open Data Link for PC on your Windows computer.
Plug the indicator into your computer with the USB cable supplied.
Wait for the indicator to connect to change settings.
Select the Settings icon to begin setting up your indicator.
Settings
Units
Select whether you are weighing in kg or lb.
Auto power down
By default, the indicator will power down after 15 minutes of inactivity, unless it is plugged in and charging. The default setting is On.
On – The indicator powers down after 15 minutes of inactivity.
Off – The indicator remains powered on until the battery runs out, or it is powered off manually.
A useful setting if conserving battery is important in your weigh environment.
Auto zero
Auto zero promotes rapid weighing between animals, and removes the need to press the Zero button after each animal has been weighed. The default setting is On.
On – Rapid weighing between animals is enabled.
Off – Press zero after each animal is weighed.
You may want to remove Auto zero if you are weighing grain or produce that takes time to come to full weight on the load bars.
Resolution
The resolution is the number of kg (or lb) the scale will increment by as weight is added.
For example, if the animal weighs under 200 kg (or under 500 lb), the weight will be displayed in the nearest 0.5kg (or 1 lb). If the animal weighs between 200-500 kg (or 500-1000 lb), the weight will be shown in the nearest 1 kg (or 2 lb). The default resolutions are listed below; however, you can change the minimum weighing resolution.
Changing the resolution may cause the scale to take longer to stabilise on a weight.
Small resolutions on large weights may not stabilise. Ensure that you have set the correct resolution for your weighing environment.
Damping system
The damping system determines how quickly the system settles on the animal's weight for the environment you're weighing in.
Superdamp III (Cattle) – automatically settles on the animal's weight with greater accuracy.
Superdamp III (Sheep) – automatically settles on the animal's weight in fast weighing environments.
Fixed time weighing – sets the length of time it takes for the system to calculate the weight of a moving animal. For example, in fast weighing environments you can reduce the weighing time to increase throughput, but with reduced weight accuracy.
Averaging – calculates the average weight over a selected time, useful if you're weighing grain or produce. For example, if you're trying to weigh out 50 kg (110 lb) of grain, setting a short average time will allow you to add or remove grain and have it update more quickly on the indicator.
Load bar type
If you have non-Tru-Test load bars, select your load bars from the list (only available on the S3 indicator). If your load bars are not on the list, you will need to perform a span calibration.
