🤚 You should only perform a span calibration:
if you are using third-party load bars (not Tru-Test load bars), you have set up the indicator weighing settings as recommended, but the scale is still not weighing as expected.
as part of advanced troubleshooting if all other options have been exhausted.
To perform a span calibration, you will need:
a test weight - this must be a known weight which is at least 1/3 of the scale capacity OR similar to what you are typically weighing (e.g. the approximate weight of an animal. This could be bags of feed or drums of liquid).
to know the maximum scale capacity (capacity of the load bars or load cell)
To perform a span calibration:
Turn on the indicator and ensure that the load bar or load cell connectors are secure.
From the Home screen, press Settings, Next Page, Weighing Settings then Span Calibration:
On line 1, select the Resolution from the drop-down list. This will depend on the scale capacity:
Scale capacity | 1000 kg | 2000 kg | 5000 kg | 10,000 kg |
Recommended resolution | 0.5 to 2.0 kg | 1.0 to 5.0 kg | 2 to 10 kg | 5 to 10 kg |
💡 The coarser the resolution, the faster the scale will stabilise the weight.
4. On line 2, enter the Scale Capacity. This should be the maximum capacity rating for the load bars or load cell minus the weight of the platform, crate, crush or chute.
5. Make sure that there is nothing on the platform.
6. On line 3, press ENTER to perform the Zero Calibration.
7. On line 4, type the weight of the Test Weight. Enable Live Test Weight (Optional) if this a live animal.
8 Place the test weight on the platform.
9. On line 5, press ENTER to perform the Span Calibration.
At the bottom of the Span Calibration screen, the indicator will display
"Wait... Performing test weigh measurement" then:
DONE if the span calibration is successful.
ERROR if the span calibration was unsuccessful.
Check all of the lines and change the Resolution, Scale Capacity, Test Weight fields, if required.
Attempt the Zero Calibration and Span Calibration again.
