Updated over a week ago

Before you can use your Zebra ZQ500 series barcode printer with an XRS2i/XRS2 EID stick reader, you need to upload a special configuration file to the printer. This allows the printer to communicate with the stick reader.

🤚 Before you start, you need to:

To configure the Zebra ZQ500 series printer:

  1. Turn ON the printer and connect it to the PC using the USB cable supplied. The USB port is shown below:

  2. Double-click on the shortcut to launch the Zebra Setup Utilities app:

  3. Click on Open Communication With Printer:

  4. Click on the Open folder icon and select the configuration file (ZQ500_series_config.txt) which you downloaded earlier.

  5. Once the file has loaded, click on Send To Printer.

  6. A message will appear at the bottom of the screen to indicate that the configuration file has been transferred:

  7. Disconnect the printer from the computer. It is now ready to use with a Tru-Test XRS2i/XRS2 EID stick reader.
