Troubleshooting downloading and installing Data Link PC software

Having trouble downloading Data Link PC software?

Check that your anti-virus software is up-to-date

Most anti-virus software is set to update automatically, however, you should manually perform this check as part of troubleshooting.

To manually update most anti-virus software programs:

  1. Look for your anti-virus icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen, near the clock.

  2. Right-click and choose the option to Update or Check for updates.

To manually update Microsoft Windows Defender (built into MS Windows):

  1. Click Start (Windows logo) in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.

  2. Type Windows Security and press Enter.

  3. Click Virus & Threat Protection.

  4. Scroll down and click Check for Updates.

Use your anti-virus software to scan Data Link PC software

  1. Go to the Tru-Test website, click on PRODUCTS > Software & Apps > Data Link PC Software > Download Data Link OR download from here: https://sw.tru-test.com/weighing/software/DataLink_Web.exe.

  2. Save the file to a known location on your PC.

  3. Scan the software using your anti-virus software.

  4. Double-click the .exe file to start installation.

  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Unblock Data Link PC software so that your anti-virus software allows installation

  1. Go to the Tru-Test website, click on PRODUCTS > Software & Apps > Data Link PC Software > Download Data Link OR download from here: https://sw.tru-test.com/weighing/software/DataLink_Web.exe.

  2. If you see message “Installing prerequisite software” and the download seems to be stuck, the file may have been blocked by your antivirus software. Click on Cancel, go to your Downloads folder and find the DataLink.exe file.

  3. Right-click on the file and make sure Unblock is ticked.
