You should regularly update the firmware (software) on your Tru-Test device to take advantage of the latest features and improvements. This article describes the standard method for updating device firmware. There are some other methods which can be used during troubleshooting (see the links at bottom of the article).
🤚Before you start:
download and install Data Link PC software.
we recommend backing up data on your device as a precaution.
👀 Here is a video showing how to update the device firmware on a 5000 indicator. The process is the same for all other Tru-Test devices.
To update the device firmware:
Connect your Tru-Test device to a PC using the USB cable supplied with your device.
Launch Data Link PC software:
Click Tools and Updates:
Click Check for Updates and follow the prompts.
💡 Enable Check for Updates Automatically so that the firmware will be updated automatically whenever you connect to Data Link PC software. We recommend ticking this option so that your device stays updated with the latest features and improvements.
Having trouble?
If you are having trouble updating an XR5000, ID5000 or JR5000 indicator, check the firmware version on your indicator (Press the ? button on the indicator). If the firmware version is below V3.6, the standard update procedure will not work and you will need to update via a USB stick. Click on the Live Chat bubble in the bottom right-hand corner of this screen to get assistance from the support team.
