This process applies to:
XR5000, ID5000, JR5000 weigh scale indicators
XRS2i, XRS2, SRS2i, SRS2 EID stick readers
XRP2i, XRP2 EID panel readers
EziWeigh7i indicator
In most circumstances, the standard method for updating device firmware should be used. However, during troubleshooting, a support team member may recommend updating the device firmware from a file. Updating device firmware from a file is done using Data Link PC software.
The update file will be supplied to you by the support team. The file will either be:
a .tgz file for 5000 indicators OR
a .bin file for EziWeigh7i indicators
(📝 for XRS2i/SRS2i EID readers a .bin file is supplied when performing a Bluetooth firmware upgrade - manual method) ORa .hex file for EID readers
Save this file somewhere on your PC (e.g. your desktop or downloads folder)
🤚Before you start:
download and install Data Link PC software.
we recommend backing up data on your device as a precaution.
If you have an XRS2i or SRS2i EID stick reader, upgrade your Bluetooth firmware first, before attempting any other update.
To update the device firmware from a file:
Connect your Tru-Test device to a PC using the USB cable supplied with your device.
Launch Data Link PC software:
Click Tools and Updates:
Select Update device firmware from a file:
Select the updater file you saved to your PC earlier (.tgz, .bin or .hex file, depending on your device).
Follow the prompts.
