Connecting to the energizer using Wi-Fi

The Farm Management app can communicate with the energizer using a Wi-Fi connection.

Updated over a week ago

The Farm Management app can communicate with the energizer using a Bluetooth® or a Wi-Fi connection. A Wi-Fi connection means that communication with the energizer can occur wherever your phone has internet access, whereas a Bluetooth connection requires the phone to be very near the energizer (within a few metres). To communicate with your energizer via Wi-Fi your energizer needs to be installed in a location that has Wi-Fi network coverage.

When you first set up the Farm Management app, you need to connect to the energizer using Bluetooth before it is available to connect to over the internet. This only needs to be done once.

To add the energizer to the Wi-Fi network:

  1. Tap Connect this device to your farm.

  2. Enter the Wi-Fi Network Name and Password (Note: The Energizer can only connect to a secured Wi-Fi network with a password set. If the Wi-Fi connection doesn't have a password, it will need to be reconfigured to specify a password).

The energizer will be added to your Wi-Fi network and will now be visible on the List of Energizers view showing the output voltage reading. The strength of the connection can be seen by the number of lines on the Connected symbol from within the energizer device page.

The energizer's Wi-Fi status light (the last white LED) will be ON:

Note: Once your energizer has been added to the Wi-Fi network, you can control or view the energizer status using the app wherever you are on your farm, wherever you have 3G, 4G or 5G coverage. While connected to Wi-Fi, the energizer is expected to use around 10 MB per day.

To change the Wi-Fi network:

  1. Tap the Settings icon.

  2. Tap Change Network and follow the prompts.
