Active Tag provides real-time insights to help you with decision-making, farm management practices and increased efficiency. To make the most of your Active Tag system, we recommend using these powerful features at different times of the lactation cycle:

Calving

0-14 days

Health	View the Health report	Monitor animals prior to calving, focusing on first calf heifers.
Reproduction	Add a calving event	As soon as possible after calving.
Health	View the Health report and set up Notifications.	Closely monitor animals for two weeks after calving.
Health	Record health event	for 'at risk' animals noting metabolic issues, difficult calving, retained membranes.
Datamars Livestock management	Move animals into the milking group	in Datamars Livestock two weeks after calving.

Insemination/Mating

Reproduction	Use the Reproduction Issues report and Notifications	to identify anestrous animals or those with irregular heats.
Reproduction	View the Animals in Heat report	to monitor animals ready for insemination.
Reproduction	Set up drafting for heat	and begin insemination.
Reproduction	Set up a voluntary waiting period (VWP)	to manage the timing of breeding for some animals e.g. young stock, animals which have recently calved.
Reproduction	Use the Breeding report	to find animals which have not been inseminated or are due for a pregnancy scan.
Reproduction	Add insemination event
Reproduction	Add pregnancy check event

Mid lactation

Datamars Livestock management	Assign active tags	to new animals.
Reproduction	Use the Pregnancy report	to monitor animals requiring a pregnancy scan.

Datamars Livestock management	1. Use Find My Cow	to find any missing active tags or animals.
	2. Unpair any active tags which are not in use
	3. Put unused active tags to sleep	to conserve the battery.
